When the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum needed a clock at the entrance to their new Time and Navigation Exhibition, Electric Time Company was selected. Clear clock hands, edged in gold, with gold tails, are featured on the entrance sign to the exhibit. Working with the creative designers at Capitol Exhibit Service of Virginia, we were given the task of supplying a working custom clock that integrates with animated features – planes, submarines, etc.
From the Air & Space Museum’s The Daily Planet - "If you want to know where you are, or if you want to know where you're going, you need a reliable clock," said Carlene Stephens, a curator at the National Museum of American History, which houses the Smithsonian's collection of clocks and contributed to the exhibit. Appropriately, visitors enter the exhibit by walking under a beautiful blue and gold clock, in the "spirit of the early and truly magnificent European clocks," says exhibit designer Heidi Eitel.

The New York Times reported on the New York, Westchester and Boston Railway Administration Building's $66 million renovation in its January 31, 2013 edition. The historic Bronx New York USA building, built in 1912 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, was the recipient of an Electric Time Company backlit tower clock.
Citnalta Corporation, the general contractor for the renovation, purchased the custom clock to replace the clock that had once graced the façade. The 45" diameter clock resides under the sculptural head of Mercury – the Roman god of swift travel.
As detailed in the article:
"What the project did not include – at first – was a clock under the figure of Mercury, where one had once been. No money was budgeted for this extra touch. But then Michael Gargiulo, the president of Citnalta, visited the site. "He didn't think it looked right without a clock," said Matthew Blitch, the vice president of the company. The contractors learned that they could buy a 45-inch diameter clock with Roman numerals from the Electric Time Company of Medfield, Mass., for $8,000. That cost, and the labor to install it, were Citnalta's extra contribution to the project. "It adds so much to the facade of the building," Mr. Blitch said."

Turning a concept or thought into a clock seems like an easy process – doesn't it? The trick is in doing it correctly. Icrave Design LLC of New York, NY, USA asked Electric Time Company to create a clock from their rendering. The project had a short time frame – from rendering to installation in exactly one month.
The one-of-a-kind neon clock created for Mimosa Restaurant at the Minneapolis-Saint Paul Airport has a completely custom hexagonal shape, red neon lighting, a special yellow paint finish, and custom style dial markings and hour and minute hands. The engineering department created the drawings for customer approval and for the fabrication of the clock. Samples were made up and sent out for approval. A special neon tube was blown. The materials were purchased and fabricated – finishes were applied. The clock was assembled, tested, crated and shipped. All in one month.
When you need a very special clock for your project Electric Time Company is yours for Designing Time.

Electric Time Company was pleased to be selected by White & Borgognoni Architects, P.C. and Halverson Construction Co. as the tower clock restoration experts for the Union Station Clock Tower. Working with historic drawings discovered by White & Borgognoni Architects, P.C., and old postcards and photographs - Electric Time recreated the four dials of the historic clock tower. The silhouette style tower clocks are 8' in diameter and fabricated in aluminum with gold leafed numerals and hands. For accurate time keeping the tower clocks are controlled by a GPS receiver. A Westminster Chime and hour strike system was also provided.
The original 110’ tall clock tower was built in 1889 and removed in 1946. The current restoration and reconstruction was completed in March 2007. The restored Union Station is now a visitors center located across the street from the Abraham Lincoln Museum and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
