Electric Time Company of Medfield, Massachusetts USA has retro-fitted new hand hubs on the existing gold leafed clock hands at the Medway Community Church of Medway, Massachusetts for use with their new Style C1G3 Church Clock Movements. The installation also has a 99B-MI automatic church clock controller that will reset the church clocks after a power outage and for the bi-annual Daylight Saving Time change. The church steeple was struck by lightning in 2009 and was partially destroyed by the ensuing fire. It had suffered prior lightning damage in 1945 and during the Hurricane of 1938 which caused widespread destruction throughout the northeast United States.

The weather begins to warm up, the birds reappear, bulbs poke out from the ground – and its time for your clocks to be set ahead one hour. Daylight Saving Time occurs on Sunday, March 11, 2012 at 2:00am. If your clock has an Electric Time Company automatic clock controller the time will be automatically reset for you. Grab a lawn chair and a warm blanket, have an extra cup of coffee, and await that 2:00am reset show. Or, do what the rest of us do – check it when we get up in the morning! Happy Spring!

Bill Nye, a 1977 graduate of Cornell University in Ithaca NY, and world famous scientist and teacher, has presented his alma mater with an Electric Time Company clock featuring a Solar Noon Indicator. The 10’ diameter clock has been over 10 years in the making – a collaborative effort with Electric Time Company, Bill Nye and the students of Cornell University.
Using Bill’s initial design drawings, Electric Time Company created a clock to accommodate solar noon indicator equipment. A large polished tube is connected from the back of the clock dial to the roof of the building. On the end of the tube at the roof are shutters that open to accept light from the sun when it is at its highest point of the day – solar noon. The sun on the face of the clock dial illuminates brightly at solar noon.
Bill Nye’s interest in solar noon and timekeeping stems from his father’s and mother’s love of science and sundials. To see more on this topic and pictures of the clock installation see; Telling Time.

How cute is this custom exterior clock?
We all fell in love with this precocious frog – catching a fly on a nearby leaf. The intricate pieces were all cut in-house on our water jet machine. The lucky recipient of this clock is the Golisano Children’s Museum of Naples Florida. Don’t you just love the colors that make up this fun clock? Ten colors were painstakingly matched to the customers specifications for this one-of-a-kind clock. The clock just shipped – we are looking forward to seeing it in the museum. What a fun addition!

One question that is frequently asked – How can our clock be seen at night if we install a non-illuminated clock? These photographs are an excellent example of illuminating an Electric Time Company silhouette style tower clock. The clock tower is washed with light from nearby parking lot fixtures. We have also seen great examples of “wall washing” lights focused from below the clocks.

The clock tower pictured is Oujda City Hall, located in eastern Morocco in the city of Oujda. With a population of just over one million, Oujda is known for its strategic location – placing an emphasis on trading. Electric Time Company supplied (4) tower clock hand and movement (#4MI Design) assemblies with a custom carillon. The outer dimension of these monumental clocks is 156” (4 meters). The clocks can be seen at a great distance!

How to improve an antique? Have Electric Time Company provide a clock for it! The ultra-hip restaurant and nightclub LAVO in New York City asked ETC to place clock faces in an old rusty antique wrought iron sign frame. After painstakingly restoring the frame and recreating missing parts, two 30” back lighted clocks were added. The frame was carefully painted and highlighted and the clock rings were fitted to the frame. The double sided clock now proudly hangs above the LAVO entrance on 58th Street, between Madison and Park Avenues

Clocks, clocks and more clocks! As 2010 winds down we thought about all of the tower clocks manufactured at Electric Time Company this year. One project in particular stood out – The Village at Breckenridge in Colorado.
Designed with the architects at O’Bryan Partnership of Frisco, CO, Electric Time Company manufactured four 11’ diameter canister clocks. The clocks were specially designed to accommodate the front access only requirement. Due to their size, the clocks were driven to Colorado from our factory in Medfield, MA on a dedicated flatbed trailer with a special oversized load escort! The tower clocks were quickly and professionally installed by R.A. Nelson & Associates, the general contractor on the project.
The Village at Breckenridge is located at the base of Breckenridge Mountain. The iconic clock tower was added as part of a major facelift at the resort in 2010.
